If you always find yourself sick in the spring, here’s why
Disease and disharmony in the body develops when one does not follow the laws of nature.
In other words, you get sick if you don’t flow with the energy of the seasons.
We are in the depths of winter. This is the most yin time of year. In response, we must also be yin in our lifestyle and ways of being.
(Remember yin is associated with darkness, femininity, the moon, cold, depth, internal, shyness, and restoration)
Look outside - nature is still. Calmness fills the air. The trees are bare and naked. Many animals are hibernating. This time of year it would be unnatural to awaken to songbirds chirping, to observe animals playing, to see mosquitos swarming, or flowers blossoming.
Now is a time for rest for all of nature.
The same applies for us humans. Now is not the best time to train for marathons, go on a restrictive diet, work long days, cut back on sleep, or excessively socialize. That would go against the yin energetics of winter. Now is a better time to rest, conserve, and spend time in reflection.
Remember that each season serves its own unique purpose and influence over our life.
Winter is a time for rest. All of nature is resting. If one does not rest appropriately during the cold, winter months, one will not be physically prepared for the busy, spring season’s arrival.
If you suffer from spring allergies or always find yourself sick during the spring season - it may be because you weren’t recharging yourself appropriately during the harsh, winter months.
Spring is right around the corner. Then will be the time to plan, create, get back outside, & take action. However, today we are in the calm, winter season. It is important to reap the benefits of each season so we can harmoniously flow (in mind and body) into the next phase.
In what ways can you incorporate stillness into your own life?
