Acupuncture heals grief
As we enter this holiday season, many of us face grief this time of year. It’s not always “the most wonderful time of the year” like holiday music & hallmark movies have led us to believe.
This season often comes with feelings of grief, loneliness, or memories of passed loved ones. It is important to remember to make space for uncomfortable emotions during this time.
How do you define grief? Grief is not just sadness.
Grief is equally about presence as well.
If we are able to move through the process of grief, we are able to learn how to be present to “what is”, authentically live in the moment, and cherish the gift of life.
Remember that grief is really two sides of a coin, like heads and tails. One side is bitter and the other is sweet. The bitter side is knowing all is temporary. It’s the side that makes us dwell in the past and have a hard time accepting present circumstances. There is melancholy in knowing we must let go. While the sweeter side of grief is knowing that because life is short, we are grateful in this present moment. We cherish the blessings around us and the opportunities we do have. It’s the side that encourages us to carpe diem.
Did you know acupuncture is a significant intervention for processing grief?
The mind, body, spirit and emotions are viewed as a seamless whole. Disharmony in one affects the other. All is interconnected; there is no separation. By treating physical areas of the body via acupuncture, emotional pain is also moved and healed. This is why grief and emotional hurts can be released.
